Vistronix supports enterprise application development and GIS programs across multiple federally managed locations. We offer unparalleled expertise in GIS implementation, including data development, organization and management; production of high quality electronic and hard copy maps; analytical tool development; and infrastructure support.
Vistronix manages large volumes of spatial and tabular data, and we develop data warehouse and web portals to access that data. In collaboration with our clients, we develop data through Global Positioning System collection, digitizing, or by performing spatial analysis. Our staff specialists, who are experienced in developing geospatial data from the ground up, have the skill and expertise to manage complex, secure geospatial databases — and keep them up to date with fully documented metadata. Vistronix can support raster and vector data formats measured in terabytes.
With our experience in geography and cartography, Vistronix produces local and regional maps that can be layered to span topics such as environmental assessments, transportation networks, hazardous material facility locations, and just about any other factor of concern to our clients.

U.S. Department of Agriculture. Vistronix designed and built the USDA’s award-winning, metadata-driven Internet portal, Geospatial Data Gateway — http://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov/— to support land management and conservation decisions. The gateway provides a single access point for browsing the agency’s extensive collection of maps and associated information.
- Environmental Protection Agency. Vistronix has developed several systems for the EPA, each of which highlights a different capability:

Environmental Justice. Provides access for multiple visitors to study the impacts of existing or planned facilities’ locations on disadvantaged communities.

Emergency Response. Enables disaster relief, rescue operations, and other field teams to view geospatial data and to gain immediate access to maps. This solution helps the EPA to evaluate and identify vulnerable population centers, environmental features, and other sensitive areas in an effort to save lives, reduce property loss, and mitigate environmental impact.
- Office Relocation. In support of EPA Region 1’s office relocation, including its 800-person staff, Vistronix created a custom geodatabase and set of web mapping tools. The project started in 2008 with the conversion of AutoCAD drawings into ArcGIS format, which in turn led to Vistronix developing a web-based tool for sharing information among the various move coordinators and staff. The tool was instrumental in facilitating the move and is still in use today. It was honored by EPA with a 2010 National Web Award.
